MPs give evidence to health scrutiny committee
10 March 2008

Mid Sussex MP Nicholas Soames gave evidence to the Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Wednesday 5th March.

The evidence centred on the case for the Princess Royal Hospital in respect of the A&E services, maternity services and other relevant issues.

Nicholas Soames said; “I am very grateful to the JHOSC and its Chairman, County Councillor Peter Griffiths, for asking me to give evidence in support of the Princess Royal Hospital.

“My Parliamentary colleagues, Nick Herbert MP (Arundel and South Downs), and Nick Gibb MP (Bognor Regis and Littlehampton) and I are all convinced that what matters most of all is the clinical safety of patients and that all these hospitals should have a suitable range of services for the local population.  It is thus clear that the Princess Royal Hospital, sitting in an area of rapid growth needs a full range of effective services.”
