Show your support for maternity services at picnic
24 July 2007

The Support the PRH campaign is urging local residents to show their support for maternity services at the PRH by attending a Picnic in the Park, entitled The Big Push on Sunday 5th August. The event will take place in Beech Hurst Gardens, Haywards Heath from 11.30am. Residents are being asked to bring their own picnic to the event, without alcohol, which is banned in the main area of the park.

Although everyone from Mid Sussex is invited, the campaign team are especially keen for children born at the PRH's maternity unit, and their parents, to attend the picnic. In addition to speeches from local MPs and midwifes about the threat to maternity services in the Fit for the Future consultation, a number of additional activities are planned:

Red & white theme

Residents are being asked to come to the picnic dressed in red and white (the colours of the Support the PRH campaign logo) to help ensure a visual show of support for the campaign.

Best dressed teddy competition

For younger children, a competition for the best dressed teddy in a nurse, doctor of patients outfit will be held.

Midwifes' silent auction to raise funds for the campaign

Midwives from the PRH will be holding a silent auction to help raise funds for the campaign. If you are able to donate an action prize, please contact the campaign team, who would be pleased to hear from you.
