60,000
backing the PRH as summer events announced Campaigners fighting to prevent the downgrading of the Princess Royal Hospital have today announced that the campaign’s petition has broken the 60,000 signature mark. The news comes after local MPs published new wording for the petition which reflects the threat announced recently by the Primary Care Trust. Under the proposals, the PRH could be downgraded to community hospital status, with A&E and maternity services being lost. Two more events have also been announced by the campaign team, to allow Mid Sussex residents to continue to express their concerns and opposition to the proposed changes: Picnic in the Park: The Big Push – Sunday 5th August A lunchtime picnic will be held in Beach Hurst Gardens, Haywards Heath on Sunday 5th August. Although all local residents are invited, children born at the PRH since it was opened in 1991, and their parents, are particularly welcome, to help highlight the threat to the hospital’s maternity services. March and Rally: 10,000 voices, 1 message – Saturday 13th October
Almost 1 year to the day since
the first march and rally was held to highlight the threat to the PRH, a
second event will be held on Saturday 13th October as the
consultation period enters its final days. Following the event held in 2006,
which was attended by 7,500 people, the campaign team are aiming for 10,000
people to attend – all with 1 message, that the Princess Royal Hospital
should retain A&E and maternity services. |
