Make them think twice on Monday
22 June 2007

'Make them think twice on Monday’. That is the message from the Support the Princess Royal Hospital campaign ahead of a Strategic Health Authority board meeting on Monday morning. The meeting is set to formally approve the health authority consultation that recommends the loss of frontline health services at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.

Mid Sussex residents who oppose the plans to downgrade the PRH to a community hospital or a minor injuries walk-in unit are being asked to join a protest outside the SHA meeting to ask health authority chiefs to think twice before ignoring public opinion and publishing the consultation document.

Local people are being asked to assemble outside Clair Hall in Haywards Heath at 11am on Monday 25th June, to greet SHA Chief Executive Candy Morris and the health authority board as they arrive for their meeting.

Before the consultation on the future of the West Sussex hospitals can formally be published, the boards of both the Primary Care Trust and Strategic Health Authority must approve the document as fit for consultation. Campaigners seeking to protect services at Worthing Hospital, also blighted by the proposals, will be protesting outside the PCT meeting, to be held in Worthing on Monday morning.
