Hospital campaign to be filmed for documentary
5 October 2006

The campaign to protect the PRH from downgrading is being filmed by local documentary maker Suzanne Gielgud as part of a film called 'Sussex fights for life', which will show the campaigns being run across Sussex against threatened NHS cuts.

Local people are being asked to submit interesting, positive stories of their treatment at the Princess Royal Hospital for inclusion in the film, which should be sent to sussex.fights@gmail.com

Suzanne is an award winning documentary filmmaker based in Lindfield, whose last film Dancing for Oliver charted the creation of the dance scenes for Oliver Stone's Hollywood epic Alexander. The film recently won the Best Documentary award at the Marbella Film Festival and was selected for the prestigious Raindance Film Festival in London.

Explaining why she got involved in the campaign, Suzanne says: "I gave birth to my daughter last year at the PRH and because of the skill of the consultants in the Special Care Baby Unit, her very rare and life threatening genetic condition was diagnosed at birth which probably saved her from an early death. I wish to do all I can to ensure that the maternity ward at the PRH remains open so the unit can save other babies in the future"
