The Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath is under threat. Please help us support it

As part of plans to reconfigure hospital services in West Sussex, the local Primary Care Trust consulted last year on drastic options, including the downgrading of vital Accident & Emergency and consultant-led maternity services at the Princess Royal Hospital at Haywards Heath.

Local MPs Nicholas Soames, Nick Herbert, Norman Baker and Charles Hendry launched this campaign to fight any proposed downgrading of the Princess Royal Hospital and asked the whole community to get involved and help them fight for the high quality hospital facilities needed in Mid Sussex and the surrounding area.

The Primary Care Trust have now made their decision about the level of services to the provided at the Princess Royal Hospital. In a major victory for the community, Accident & Emergency and intensive care services will remain at the PRH. However, the PCT have decided that the consultant-led maternity unit should be removed from the hospital, a decision which can only be altered by increases in the number of births at the PRH, or by the Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee 'calling in' the decision to the Health Secretary.
